Breathing Easy!

This time of year always causes distress in our home. But after two years of aligning ourselves with a healthier diet, rhythm, outdoor life, acceptance of who we are and finally essential oils - we are seeing the light! In honor of the holidays and homeschooling parents everywhere, I am giving away a bottle of Breathe Respiratory Blend to the Earthschooling community. I want to hear from you? What questions do you have? I see so much controversy and not enough real discussion about oils out there. Let's start it hear in a safe loving way. Do you use Essential Oils regularly?

  1. I love this topic and appreciate the invitation to share. Our family has unschooled for 6 yrs now and it has been constant change and healing. Our most used trick that we rely upon when anxiety or stress creep in our high vibe is to slow down. Immediately when recognizing we are out of alignment. This is usually done with deep breathing exercises or meditation which my kids now do daily. It has become our strongest "medicine" for what ails us.
We are excited to add essential oils and flower essence to our daily living but have not started yet but would love to here others experience with them. Thanks for the open hearted conversation!

    1. Ack! My internet has been out so I haven't been able to post a response! Thank you! How old are your children? My boys are 5 and 8. We teach mindfulness, but we certainly could benefit from the children joining us in meditation. Do you have a meditation corner that they can go to? I have been considering setting one up. I agree that the best medicine is the healing we do within ourselves. Taking a deep breath. Finding our balance point. When we are in balance our immune system is strong and vibrant. The oils have been excellent in supporting our bodies as we do our work. Without masking. The more I learn about how they work the more I am amazed by the way they work in concert!

  2. It seems to me that our strongest critics are ourselves, and it takes some courage or self-awareness to realize it. I have often been lead to ignore physical or spiritual pains and discomforts, thus avoiding any responsibility in my handling them. It took me a long time to understand this and accept that taking responsibility was actually empowering.
Since my son (now 3.5 years old) was born, I have started to notice these dynamics in myself and to be more gentle with myself. Essential oils have been part of this process: lavender and marjoram in particular. Although I am not aware of the full range of their power as I'm still learning, they have certainly been healing, calming and balancing in our home.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share this :)

    1. You are so very right. It takes a lot of courage to step forth and accept responsibility. But in the end it is so freeing! Lavender and Marjoram are two we use often. We call lavender the Swiss Army Knife of oils. From burns, to cuts, to calming, to sinus congestion in wee ones it is excellent. Our blacksmith friends always have a bottle on hand. What do you use Marjoram for? I use it on m son's heart regularly. Do you know what the Emotional aspects of the oils are? If not would you like to know?

    2. So far, I have mainly used Marjoram mixed with olive oil to massage my son's chest when he is congested, and it works wonderfully. I don't know about the emotional aspects of the oils, but I'd certainly would like to know more about that.

    3. Marjoram is the oil of connection and lavender is the oil of communication. Marjoram used over the heart I have found helps children who are challenged by disconnection.

  4. I have had many health challenges over the last ten years. I am learning to listen to my body and I am teaching our children to listen to their bodies too. It is important to our family that we are happy, healthy, strong, and balanced physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We work together to support each other in ways that honor each individual and our family whole. We are strong and confident in our natural healthcare and holistic lifestyle choices.

I am not too familiar with essential oils. We have used chamomile, lavender, eucalyptus, and rose essential oils. Our midwife used rose essential oil for our foot washing ceremony during pregnancy. The smell of rose essential oil brings me great joy and calm.

Thank you for the lovely giveaway.

  5. I am a Reiki practitioner in addition to being a mother of a 2.5 and 5.5 year old girl and boy. I use essential oils for cleaning, insect repellents, ear issues, diaper wipe solution, and congestion relief, to name some uses. I truly have so much more to learn about them, and would love to know more about the emotional aspects, as well as using them in my Reiki practice. My friend recently asked me if I could give her advice about oils and her sick dog, but I don't know enough to feel comfortable in giving advice on the matter. I would love to know about using them with animals as well. I am interested in herbalism as well, and have so much to learn, I'm not sure where to begin!

  6. There is so much to learn it can be extremely overwhelming. But there is so much information out there. We actually have a Facebook Group for Animals - Earth Essentials Animals and Pets. My friend who is an Aromatherapist runs it. I have had great success with oils on all of animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens.) She can always send me a message as well :)
